The Drilling Team Managers follow the bar chart that is produced by the client. Prior to sending rigs to the drilling locations, seabed soil samples are taken for inspection a drivers survay is also done and then sent for approval to the insurance company. This is to ensure that it is safe for our rigs to stand on that proposed drilling location.
When the seabed soil samples are approved, three tugboats accompanied by the insurance surveyor, tow the jack-up rig to the drilling location. Upon reaching the location, the jack-up rig commences lowering its three legs to bottom. The legs are lowered until the hull of the jack-up barge is just above the water. After this, a preload test commences by filling up all the preload tanks. This is done to ensure that the drilling operations do not suffer any complications related to the jacking system.
Upon completion of the test, the preload tanks are drained and the hull is raised up to required air gap. The brakes are engaged and the cantilever is then skidded out to the designated slot for drilling.
Depending on the objectives of the well, the rig delivers the objectives working closely with the client and the service companies.
Once the well is successfully drilled, it is tested and completed. The jack-up barge is jacked down until the hull is afloat on the water, towed by the three tugboats to a new location.
